Radon Gas Awareness

What is Radon Gas? According to the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency). Radon is naturally-occurring radioactive gas that can cause lung cancer. Radon gas is inert, colorless and odorless. Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States. Only smoking causes more lung cancer deaths.

The only way to determine if levels exceed EPA recommended safe levels, is by using specialized equipment placed inside the home for a period of time to collect air quality samples. The map above, by Texas Tech University now overseeing the Texas Radon Program, illustrates areas with various confirmed levels of Radon Gas.
